I’m an English Major

and I LOVE IT.

Please stop pretending like I’m not going to have a fulfilling life. Please stop pretending that money buys happiness, and that teachers can’t love what they do.

I can sit here and cite everything that makes my major more fulfilling than your math bullshit if you so wish, but I honestly have better stuff to be doing. If you challenge it, you’ll get the whole storm. I am not kidding. I’ll probably win in an argument because I know how to use words which is arguably one of the most important skills you can have in life.

Did you know: English majors are more likely to be accepted to law school than political science majors?

Just because I chose English does not mean I am unintelligent, it does not mean that I am not suited for better things, IT DOES NOT MEAN I “make stuff up” for a living.

Anyone can plug numbers into a formula. There are far few people who can read a text and critically understand its implications for themselves, and for society.

The next person who makes a comment that suggests that my major makes me unintelligent or unsucessful in college, life or otherwise will have their balls torn off.
